Location: Hot Springs, Arkansas
Challenge:
Re-imagine and expand an existing nature exploration area for kids 6 and under
Solution:
Design a lively concept plan of age-appropriate activities grounded in the power of play to build thinking skills, communication, and empathy, all through the lens of the natural world.
The activities here celebrate the environment of the Hot Springs/Ouachita region as an entry into appreciating, and caring for, the natural world everywhere. Imagination, role-play, and simple tools and techniques of science provide a wide range of opportunities for play and learning. Flexible work spaces can host changing activities with loose parts, as well as staff-led programming. The long space is anchored at one end by a protected space for crawlers, and by a Cave and Climber at the other end where kids can build physical skills and confidence.
